Composite Rod for different crankbait applications

Featured Replies

I have recently cleared house with most of my rods due to the craziness of current resale values on Facebook. I used those funds to buy about 8-9 bottom contact rods in the Expride and Victory Line-Ups. However, I am torn on what crankbait rods to buy. I am good for 10xd's (Phenix X-14) and Chatterbaits (Expride A 7'2" MH Glass/Comp), but I need a rod for squarebills/dt6, 3xd/rkcrawler/lipless, and 6xd. I do not like straight graphite and have lost my enjoyment of straight glass, and have found to prefer the happy medium of composite rods the best. However, I am indecisive on the best action and power for these specific techniques. Here are my thoughts, and would love to hear your suggestions. (For context, my lakes are Southern Reservoirs that are rocky, with little to no grass and light wood cover.)

Squarebill/DT6 - Dobyns Champion XP 705cbglass-comp, Phenix X-10, Diawa Rebellion 7' Medium Comp, Shimano Expride 7' Medium Comp, or better suggestion

3xd/Rkcrawler/lipless - Phenix X-12, Dobyns XP 764cb, Dobyns XP 735cbglass, or better suggestion

6xd - Dobyns XP 805, Dobyns 765CBglass-comp, Phenix X-13, Megabass Launcher, or better suggestion

Thanks guys and gals, God Bless.

They look nice. What does the “carbon” in carbon cranker mean?
