Is the spinning reels I currently have and I am currently running braid to leader but am wanting to go straight to maxima ultragreen is there any negative to this with such a large spool if I'm using mono as backing?

Negatives as in extra line twist because the spool is big or something I'm missing?

Your only negative is weight. All other things equal, bigger spool = better casting distance and less line twist. I prefer 4000 size myself. Now depending on what you're using the reel for, you may FEEL more line twist with ultragreen than with braid.

larger spool is generally better for mono lines. The only draw back, besides weight and overkill, is the increased effective IPT.
