Lews Tournament Lite LFS

Featured Replies

Hi guys. I'm looking to upgrade from my Tournament MB. Has anyone used the new Tournament Lite LFS? Anyone know if the spool from the MB will fit in the Tournament Lite?

Thanks!

No they have different braking systems. I have Lew's reels but not that one.i love all my different Lew's reels.

A cursory search shows that they have different braking types.  A 4 pin centrifugal with magnets and a 27 pin centrifugal.  You might be able to use one brake type in the other if the two are the same frame and you can swap side plate mounted internals.

My friend has two. I've put several hours on one. It's basically a lighter weight version of the Tournament Pro LFS. Personally I find the ACB braking system to be fantastic and it's a real upgrade from the MBs hybrid brake, so I liked the Lite. The only issue is that the Lite only comes in a 7.5:1 gear ratio with a 34mm spool. If you like a faster reel then you're good. If you like a slower retrieve then the TP LFS offers several retrieve options and performs just as well, but is an ounce heavier. It's still reasonably light at 6.4oz.
