Anyone Frogging/Pitching With JDM Zillion?

Featured Replies

Was thinking about updating my old Zillion TWS 100XXS to something more recent that's lighter and palms better. Obvious choice was the new Zillion but I'm concerned about strain on the Aluminum main gear they put in the JDM version. Is anyone using this reel for high strain techniques? Can Aluminum main gears withstand the pressure? Is it even worth upgrading my Zillion 100XXS to a new reel for such techniques?

Used mine for one season so far frogging and it is smooth like new.  Daiwa aluminum gears have a good reputation.  If mine wear out I'll just switch to brass and still come out way ahead in cost over buying the usdm reel.  Made in japan too instead of thailand like the US reel.

How large of a handle do they put on the JDM version? Ive grown really fond of the 100MM they had on the old Zillion.

I don't remember.  I changed mine to a carbon one.  I think it was a 90.
