Update on my lower back pain...

Featured Replies

Funny, my Mom's been seeing a chiro for at least 20 years. To me that is a failure story.

Saw a chiro office in Hawaii offering ridiculous stuff like "Brain Balancing" (totally made up hogwash). And no, if you want carpal tunnel "cured" in any way you get surgery or maybe if you're lucky, therapy and injections. Chiros make it feel better by rubbing it around then charge you for it. pain comes right back. Ask me how I know.

If the OP didn't get an MRI my gawd please do. I notice he has only responded to people agreeing with chiro though. To each their own.

Also, I've had three doctors recommend acupuncture to me even though there are no peer reviewed studies showing any help whatsoever. There is no mechanism for it to work. I know more about this than my doctors because we have discussed it and I explained the flaws in the studies. Even if the numbers were true, a 30$ success rate is a failure no better than a placebo.

Question them too and advocate for yourself if you don't get what you want.

Finally, what do you call the person who finishes last in their class in medical school?

Doctor. They aren't all good.

To each their own is right...I've been seeing my chiro for a few weeks and doing the stretches and exercises he recommended and my back while definitely not 100% feels better than it has in a year. Is it going to cure me long term? I have no idea.

My sister went to a spine specialist... One who apparently is very highly recommended in our area. He suggested physical therapy- didn't help. Then he suggested injections- also didn't help. So he suggested surgery- she got a second opinion that also said surgery. She had the surgery and the pain is still as bad or worse than before.

While I appreciate everybody's opinion we can go ahead and knock off the chiropractors are a joke crap. I believe doctors and chiropractors can both be beneficial under the correct circumstances. But just because somebody spent half a million on their education and have an M and a D after their name doesn't mean they aren't human and can't be wrong. I've heard as many back surgery horror stories as I have success stories.
