Daiwa Steez AGS Guides and Leader Knots

Featured Replies

I just received the 7'1 ML Finesse game special spinning rod, I am super excited to fish this rod for neko rigs and drop shots. As I am reading through the little yellow instruction card attached to the handle, I see that it states to make sure the leader knot does not go through the guides , basically make sure the leader is less that 3 feet to ensure the knot doesn't hit the guides. I like to use a long leader, I'm usually running 10lb braid with a 6lb or 8lb copolymer leader and the knot runs through the guides, but now I am not sure what to do. Did Daiwa made their flagship spinning rod where you cannot run leader knots through the guides? It would be a huge disappointment if I am forced to use super short leaders when fishing this rod. Anyone have experience with running leader knots through AGS guides? if so, please respond, thanks in advance.

There's a similar post before sharing the experience of AGS guides and leader knots, and the consent was it's ok, at least for FG knots.

I've only used it for 4 months, but the 7'2H power pitch is doing great with a fg knot so far.  Great jig rod.

Exactly what I wanted to hear, thank you.

Get you a tube of KnotSense by Loon. It's a UV glue that stays flexible. I use it as a coating on my FG knots and I barely here them passing thru the guides anymore. The glue works so well the the knot is completely incapsulated and smooth.

As a side, you will need a UV flashlight to cure the glue. Sunlight will work, but most of my knot tying is done after dark or in my garage.
