Lew’s LFS drag binding on reel handle

Featured Replies

Not exactly sure how it happened, but my star drag has gotten stuck under the handle on my lews lfs. There doesn’t seem to be any excess play in the handle and everything else seems fine. The reel is about a year and a half old and has seen lots of use, but is well maintained.

Anyone seen anything like this before? I’d like to fix it myself before sending it for service if possible.

Is the drag backed off all the way? They can hit a swept handle. If not I’d suspect the handle got bent slightly. Loosen the handle nut , lift the handle and tighten the drag. Reinstall the handle and see if that corrects the problem.

Has it been taken apart for cleaning?

I had an issue like that one time when I forgot to put the washer back in between the drag star and the handle. The drag star wasn't tightened down much and when I tightened the handle nut, the handle locked down on the drag star, locking it up.
