New Pfluger president 25 wont click on drag release...

Featured Replies

I have a less than a month old pfluger president 25, I put some 6 pound test on today and  i usually soak my bale in warm water to help the line memory for 5 or 10 minutes then put the bale back on, well I did that today, didnt lose the washers, the spring and clicker on the inside are not damaged and the teeth on the actual reel are all perfect shape. Any ideas? It will click when I adjust the drag on the top but if I pull line it doesn't click at all what so ever.

I don't think it's supposed to click when releasing line.

Well, that'd be a change since my 2017 President-25 does click when releasing line against the drag.

There will be a gear on the spool shaft, make sure that gear contacting the "Cam" that the spring is attached to, that's what makes the clicking sound.

P.S, do not soak your spool in water, it will damage the oil felt drag washers inside of the spool, especially because felt drags have oil on them and it will get rinsed out, causing  cause choppy slipping drag and will burn the drag washers out much faster. Instead soak the line itself in water.
