5" spark shad rigging

Featured Replies

Has anyone tried the 5" spark shad on a jighead?  How much weight does it take to keep it in the 10-15 ft range without having to crawl it?  Also would 4/0 be big enough hook?  I was trying on a heavier chatterbait as well.

I’ve used the MB 1/2 oz swim jig and 5” spark shad and it’s worked well. Puts the total weight over an oz though, so I threw it on a H rod.

We talking bare jighead or as a swim jig trailer? With plain jigheads a minimum of a 1/2oz, possibly 3/4 depending on line diameter. Skirted swimjigs will have more lift requiring more weight.

That shad looks badass behind a skirtless chatter bait.   I can’t seem  to find a bass that feels the same way. :)
