Trailer jack grease question

Featured Replies

Hey all,

So I've just got my first boat last year, well my dad and I so we are new to owning a boat and thus maintenance. It's a 16 foot aluminum Crestline. I think it's a 92 or older.

Our question is we want to re lube the front jack on the trailer. We popped the top and inside it looks like a black with a hint of blue grease. We bought a tube of "marine grease" which happens to be white. We are wondering if we can mix the two lines or do we have to use the same line or even worse do we need to fully remove the old grease before adding the new?

Hopefully you can understand my question.

Thank

Greg

No need to remove old grease from a device like this.  Just add whatever you have.  It's not as critical as wheel bearings.

Anything will be fine in this low speed/low pressure application. You could use unsalted lard and it would be OK.

Is the white grease lithium?
