Do It All Baitcaster - What Line?

Featured Replies

Won't regurgitate the same info that's avaliable online, braid will be all but gone in a few years except for heavy cover fishing obviously, new technology trial line I tried makes braid look like a fool, will have a msrp quite a bit cheaper than floro, all I'm allowed to say is it's going to be revolutionary to the fishing industry. Remember to quote this in 10 years, "braid is all but dead"

I reckon some people said similar things about monofilament?  The only thing I dislike about braid is that you need to buy heavy poundage to get an equal diameter line, which can be a nuisance to snap off when you need to. Otherwise, I don't see why it would completely lose viability in exactly 10 arbitrary years?

30lb braid to leader of choice covers about every scenario possible.straight braid for certain situations if needed.   Braid is far from gone.

Because there will be a new style of line that will most likley replace it  under development.

Seems a bit like reinventing the wheel. I'll believe it when I see it.

In order to learn how to set up and use your baitcaster, I always recommended to my clients to start out with 12lb mono and to put a piece of electrical tape about a cast and a half deep on the spool.  That way your backlash can only go so deep.  Also, tighten your cast control down and use heavy baits while your learning curve improves.  Then you can back it off and lighten up your lures.

I teach it the same way, buy some 10 or 12lb Berkeley Big Game as it is cheap and a good mono.
