Tokyo rig in clear water

Featured Replies

Is the tokyo rig better than t-rig in clear water. the lake has 10+ visibility and alot of submerged grass. My t-rig usually gets some grass on the way back and Im not sure if the tokyo rig will preform better.

Try it!

I've used the Tokyo rig a lot as a dragging bait for smallmouth in clear water (I think you can fish it a lot like a biffle hard head). Basically any time I want baits on the bottom quick and staying on the bottom.

I've been using texas rigs when I want a slower fall or glide out of the bait.

I like the jika rig better than the Tokyo or the Texas rig for coming through vegetation due to how compact it is and how the weight swings back independently of the bait, it rarely picks up weeds and if I do feel it pick up something a light pop usually clears it. My general rule regarding water clarity is the clearer the water is the more streamlined the lure and faster the fall rate I want regardless of rigging method.
