Running two transducers?

Featured Replies

I’m sure it’s been asked but I can’t find the answer. I’ve got the Minn Kota ulterra with the mega down and side imaging and a Humminbird solix. I don’t want to waste battery trolling around looking for fish so I’m wanting to use the transom mount transducer at higher speed to mark fish then switch to the trolling motor. But I don’t want to loose any resolution. Anyone running a similar setup or have any ideas?

I am not sure I completely understand your question. The whole “resolution” comment has me a bit thrown off.

As far as running different transducers is concerned, Humminbird makes a splitting cable that allows you to run a separate 2D and side imaging transducers that I think will accomplish your goal. Make sure you get the one specific for Solix and specific for Mega imaging.

I'm not sure about Humminbird but I have two transducers on my transom  for my Lowrance HDS 7 at the console one is for the down/side imaging and the other is I think and 88/200 Hz for the regular sonar and it will read depth when I'm running. I have a different transducer on the trolling motor that will do everything but side imaging and then I have them hooked together with a NMEA 2000 cable.

I think you can do something similar with the Humminbirds and do what you're wanting.

You want to keep the transom unit running while you go up front to use the TM and bow units?
