I truly apologize if my comments took this thread down the wrong road?. I for one appreciate any and all reviews on any and all gear even if I’m not responding. There is so much gear in the market today with so many different reviews it’s hard to know what’s B.S and what’s not, but reading reviews on here makes me feel a little safer about my purchase. I for one also appreciate the broad spectrum of gear that is being talked about and hope this never changes?

Agreed, @Eric 26. I was surprised not to find many reviews on this rod except on the Basspro website and a handful of others. This rod deserves more than that, in my humble opinion. ?

It can be especially frustrating having to rely on reviews from BPS’ website, alone.

Just about any other brand I can find solid reviews on TW, but of course there’s only 2 places to get BPS/JM gear. So anytime BPS updates a product, you can feel like you’re shooting in the dark for a few months. The new Xtreme spinning rod had no reviews, last I checked, for instance.

 

You should consider posting a version of this on the BPS site, too, if you haven’t already.

 

I like my Carbonlite 2.0 combo very much. Nice having the peace of mind with the 10-year warranty.

Already did! Not as detailed, but I did post on there about it. ?

 

I have the Carbonlite 2.0 casting combo (7' medium/fast with a 6.xx:1 reel with 10 lb mono) and love it. Great for cranking and topwater work.

Great review!  I wish more guys took the time to post such helpful information.  I bought my first BPS rod earlier this year.  I was looking for an inexpensive spinning rod for friends and family to use.  I bought the Pro Qualifier 2 68MLF and have been very happy with it.  Best Wishes, Randy

We've been going to the same fishing lodge now for 20+ years. HIGHLY recommend Lake Creek Lodge. It's less than an hour float plane ride out of Anchorage, and it's truly the only lodge around that area where you can walk from the cabin to the water and fish. Cabins are comfortable, food is great, and people who work and stay there are even better! We literally fished Wicked Lures off the dock and shore in front of the main lodge for 60-70% of our trip because the fish were cruising through there so consistently; didn't make sense to leave fish to go and find fish! You can also take a short 10-15 minute ride up river in an outboard and fish for pike on a world class lake up there for pike, the Bulchitna Lake.

what time of year did you go?

@Darth-Baiter, really depends what we want to catch. My dad loves going in late July and pretty much anytime in August because there's so many fish in the river that you can catch anything, and every time we've gone in late-July/August I've routinely caught all five species of salmon and a bunch of species of trout, plus the pike I mentioned. I like June for kings, as long as I can bank fish or wade out for them, but the last few years we've spent more time in boats than on the bank, so I'm not as much of a fan anymore lol. The river changes year to year, so incredible holes might be impassible or unfishable the next year; that makes it fun and frustrating ?
