I don’t know for I ever posted about this but I was bellyaching on a Silverado website I belong to about my trucks weak remote garage door opener.  Sometimes it worked and sometimes it didn’t or took multiple times to work.  Range was terrible.  One of the members asked if I had LED lights in my garage ceiling unit.  I do.  He said LEDs can interfere with the signal from the remote built into the truck.  After some experimenting with the opener in the truck and manually turning on and off the opener light and sure enough it had a very strong impact.  I assume it is different between newer openers and different models.  I also assume that might be the reason I had such a problem programming my wall mounted remote opener on the outside of the garage as well.  I changed mine back to the old fashioned light bulbs today.

This is really interesting. We have three garage doors and the middle one has all kinda of problems with the remote not working.  My truck overhead console button usually works but almost never on the native remote.

i have two led bulbs in each opener but also three of the winged mega led bulbs on the ceiling. The one in the middle is different style though and I wonder if that’s the problem…

experiment time this weekend.

You sir, are a hero.  I turned off all of the lights in the garage and hit the button in the truck- everything works.  Turn on the ceiling garage lights and the middle door doesn't work again.  That is the door with the 'different' LED ceiling light (I have three big petal type LED lights and this one is the odd one of the three).  Looks like I need to swap out a light bulb.

?? Good deal.  I’m glad it helped.  I did notice that the range from my truck didn’t increase all that much but it does work more often with fewer pushes to get the door to respond.  My opener is ancient as well, I’ll assume it might not be as much of a factor in the newer units.
