after seeing a post on here about checking the brushes on the trolling motor i tried to check mine today.If i'll looking at the right place they look ok but the problem is i can't get it to fit back together.It seems like the shaft is 1/2 inch too long,i must have something mis aligned.....

    The brushes are spring loaded to maintain tension. Did you have them pulled back out of the way before you tried to install the shaft ?
