New spinning reel (light) scuff/scratch noise

Featured Replies

I just picked up two different diawa tatula lt spinning reels from Japan, one is (slightly) smoother and makes (slightly) less noise, and the other is (slightly less smooth and makes (slightly) more scuffing/scratching noise. Was just curious if anyone has this issue on any other spinning reel brands or names, i know it's impossible for two reels to feel identical because the factory is not perfect in greasing, and giving light oil on both main shafts quieted them both down. A bit.

You're right about the small differences between some model reels; tight tolerances are reserved for their top-tier reels. But more importantly, maybe give them some time to run in. I had several reels that got smoother after a couple of trips.

Thanks!

I haf a bit of an issue with that on a Fuego LT and attribute it to a slight touching of the inside of the spool and the outside of the bail assembly.

I polished both of them a bit, and helped a little, but eventually it just wore in and is pretty quiet now.
