looking for bow mount trolling moter opinions

Featured Replies

I have a 40 lb. MK foot controlled tm on the bow of my tracker pro 17. I would like to go up to a 55lb. thrust model. It is alot cheaper to go with a hand control model but don't know if its a pain to fish in the wind with. My aluminum boat is a full time job to hold the boat and fish at the same time.

I use a hand controll 55# thrust..its a PIA especially when its windy or fishing against the current.

I had a bow mount hand controlled tmotor once.  I'll quit fishing before I put up with another one.

okay , thats what I figured. I am looking into whether or not it is possible to install a 55lb. motor assembly on my 40 unit. I don't see why it isn't possible , would be alot cheaper than buying a complete new unit.

I feel just the oposite. I run a hand operated bow mount 74# minn-Kota with a on/off button in the floor and i love it.

Get a 55# Minn Kota Maxxum with the digital speed control and foot control.  It's a bit more money than a hand control, but you will get a lot more effective fishing time.

On that size of boat, I would go with a 70lb 24v if you have room for the extra battery.

You will thank yourself later, trust me.

X2, just get use to it before you kick it to the side and hit the on/off button, or make sure you have a towel and a change of clothes with you. Don't ask me how i know this.
