SLX DC, US vs JAP

Featured Replies

Looking at the US SLXDC150HG, on the Digitaka site they show a SLXDC70HG. The specs differ in that the Jap model shows .2 oz lighter and it’s a 6+1 bearing vs a 4+1, price diff is less then $20.

Am I missing something? Going from the model #s I would have expected the us model to be bigger then the jap one, line capacity is the same. I also thought the bearings count would be the same.

The line capacity may be an error on Digitaka, on Shimano's site, the SLX DC 70 has a line capacity of 100 yards/12lb versus 130 yards/12lb for the 150 sized spool. The handle is also slightly shorter.

Not surprised at the bearing count increase, not that it's the end-all-be-all.

I don’t even see a 70 on the Shimano North America page. SLX dc

You might use JDM.

JDM reels often use aluminum gears in lieu of brass accounts for weight differences.

Check reel test guy for both reel in comparison.

If you are looking into DC reel, Shimano  just came out with 2022 SLX DC XT 70 also only available JDM. The price difference is about 30-50 bucks. If you plan to use 12-15lb mono line and this is your first DC reel, the 150 might fit you.

If you are going with 70 size reel (8-12lb) I recommend spend a little bit more on 2022 version. The SLX DC XT will get you a longer way before you wanna upgrade again, lighter weight at 6.8oz, overall smaller profile and I-Dc5 will get you more control from beginner all the way to advance type user.
