Bass Raider Questions

Featured Replies

Hey everyone, I have a Pelican Bass Raider 10E that I haven't really done too much to yet. I keep it at Smith Mountain Lake in Virginia so i will be using it for stripers just as much as i will be for LM. I normally fish alone and I was wondering if anyone had any unique ideas for things I could add to the boat. I went to Walmart yesterday and found a livewell pump system for 40 bucks that i will be using as my bilge pump and my pump for my livewell. I tied about 5 inches of rope to the handles on either end on one side and on the other end of the rope i attached a large caribeaner to the end of each 5inch section so i can dock easily and not have to deal with a lot of rope. I might ditch this system as it only allows me to attach to my dock as i have little circle screws in mine and i cant attach to cleats.

Motor wise i have a 30lb thrust minn kota trolling motor on the stern which i will be moving to the bow as soon as i can get the plug from dicks sporting goods. does anyone suggest any of the bigfoot attachments for a trolling motor? I not too sure if i like them or not as i usually sit down while i fish but i might change that as well this summer  ;)  I am currently looking for a 3 or 3.5 HP outboard. The max i can have is 3.5 HP or 36 pounds.

i have a simple battery that i only run the motor on. i dont have a case for it that i like. but i did just find that minn kota one tonight with circuit breakers and stuff.

i have a moderately old fish finder that i am working on rigging up. I have the transducer at the end of a metal pipe that is not circular, but square-shaped instead. the walls are relatively thin and from wall to wall it is about 3/4 inch. I have got it set up so that i have the transducer in a few inches of water and a clamp that attaches to the bow motor mount.... i will post pictures soon as that sounds slightly confusing.

the seats are the ones that came with the boat, the regular non-folding ones. I might replace one of them with a nice cushioned chair for me when i get the money  ;)

For music, i was able to come across a duffel bag with a FM reciver, AUX input and two speakers built into a few of the pockets. its nothing serious, but i thought it would be fun to have when im out on my boat just having fun.

Since I am going to begin using one battery for 3 different things, should i look at getting another battery? or will one be fine?  I am only 14, so all of this is new to me and I'm wanting to make my little boat as much of a fishing machine as i can. I have also gotten a plastic storage container that just fits in the foot area which i love. I can put all my tackle boxes and such inside, put the top on, and that keeps the rain and dew off over night. I put PVC pipe in the corners to hold rods when the lid is off.

I have been playing different with different ways to rig up my boat in my head, but as it is at the lake right now and i live in another state, i wont be able to see it or work on it until march and even then i will probably only be there for maybe a long weekend.  :'(

She is my first boat and i love her to pieces. I'm looking to upgrade in the next 3 or 4 years, but im not selling this boat, so im not afraid of investing in it. Any ideas any of you guys may have for pimping out this boat would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much for the input!  :)

I have an 8E that I use for small ponds, creeks, and stuff. I haven't used it much since I bought my other boat 5 years ago, but when I used it alot one thing I did, which you say your going to do, is put the TM on the bow, makes manuvering in tight spots a whole lot better.

One screw is all that holds the TM head on, on my MK Endura 30, take that out, turn the head 180, reinstall the screw............now you have a hand controlled bow mount.

I am 300 lbs so I try to sit as close to the middle as I can, and with the battery in the back it balances out nice. I can reach the TM fine with out any extensions, but remember I have the 8E.
