Phenix rod blanks

Featured Replies

what do people here think of the 765 and 736 k2 blanks and what they are best used for. i only ask becouse i feel the 765 would be good for jigs and c rigs and the 736 would be best for all flipping baits. im building both rods with american tackle 12 inch carbon grips with there razor casting seats with matching fore sleeve for th uni lock and sic fuji k guides. what yall think

K2 are nice blanks but you can get equally good for much less. I’ve you’ve already decided, they’re light and crisp with lots of backbone. 736 will make a good flipping rod but probably not what I’d pick to punch.

DVT, I'm curious of your methodology for concluding that "K2 blanks are nice blanks but you can get equally good for much less. . . "  Care to share? thanks

Much like when St Croix sold blanks I feel like their pricing was higher than average to protect their finished rod market to some degree.  Just an opinion based on blanks I’ve handled over the years.

Yes, much more affordable without st Croix branding. Hence my opinion.

Any of the major players have competitive products. It’s really splitting hairs at the high end. Again imo
