Tied up all my jigs and leaders, ready for the rivers to open up.

Featured Replies

I and the wife are ready to fish. While it was snowing here the other day i finished tying up a bunch of ballhead jigs, 1/16oz, 1/8, 1/4, 3/8, and 1oz. Also some hair and floater jigs along with some texas rigs all for the river dams. Used size #8 spro and vmc swivels and #20 lb abraisix tied to the jig with a palomar knot.

Also tied up some jigs using #6 swivels, #30lb blue label seaguer just in case the muskie and pike are out to play. If the pike are biting me off that much more than #30 can handle i just use a 80lb fluoro leader using #4 swivel and a vmc touch-lok snap and put it through the jig eye .For the #80lb i use a 2 wrap easy clinch knot. I make these using a vise and a small vicegrip to grab lhe tag end and pull hard, repeat for the other end and then burn the tag end with a soldering gun which leaves a little knob to eliminate any chance of a pull through which has never come close to happening ever. I also made many leaders of 20,30, to allow me to quickly snap on jerk baits and cranks........

If i get snagged the line breaks off at the jig knot and i am able to recover the swivel and the line. If the line isnt hacked up i will retie a jig on when i get home and regroup.
