Defective Zillion, Japan Lure Shop No Reply

hahah..I actually felt the same way about my first Zillion.  it was an odd reel.

but we have gelled, and now I own two.  best reels I have.  we have an agreement that I do my part and it will keep backlashes to a bare minimum.

4 more weeks and I will step into a Tokyo tackle shop.  I will buy a zillion and a Zillion HD, I think.  I have a salt water reel I "need" so that may temper my Zillionaire attitude.

  • Is the drag clicking when drag is pulled by a fish, or when you pull it manually? This is a notorious issue with the new Zillion. If this is your problem, it's because it has a built-in drag clicker.

  • Just a guess but.... Braided line? Is it slipping on the spool?

I’ll be glad to help you troubleshoot and/or correct the issue but you’re getting good feedback here already. Slipping braid is 99% of drag issues. A free spinning handle means absolutely nothing. Don

Can't find the resolution-was the reel defective or was it braid slipping on the spool?  Or something else?

It was line slippage. I took off the line and respooled, with the tension knob and drag on tight and me putting more pressure on the line as I reeled onto the spool. Reel is fine.

I just got a Tranx 150 for small glides and occasional use in the salt and it’s an amazing reel. I actually like it better than my Zillion. Gonna get a Tranx 200 for a new iRod Sniper Swim I just ordered for larger glides and wakes.

Carriers are charging additional fees due to the tariffs.

Ends up being a lot more than "normal" shipping and the 15%.

It's a whole different charge.

I’ll chime in on the tariff thing. Bough a Bugrock wake bait directly from the Maker. Get an email from UPS that they are holding my bait until I pay $30 tariff fee. That’s on top of the $25 the maker charged for delivery. So I am not surprised to hear that some folks are getting these extra charges separate from what the shipper charges at time of order. In this case the maker cut his prices by 15% to absorb some of the tarriff hit on customer so he’s a standup guy. But caveat emptor when buying JDM baits.

Yes and no. It’s a duty tax yes—but a specific type of duty tax—a tariff that this admin charging against Japanese products coming into the U.S. See use of the term tarriff at end of UPS receipt.

the Gov is making all the money from the tariffs.  the consumers pick up the tab at the register.
