Fished in the kayak yesterday trying for the Bartrams bass for my Georgia Ball Slam.  First time in the kayak in several months, winter and cancer knocked the crap out of me.  Tried top water and worms with worms winning.  My 2 buddies also caught all their fish on worms. 

 

These have to be the coolest looking micropterus. Nice fish.

Glad your winning the war on cancer! Just keep moving as Dick Van Dyke would say. Should it rear its head again, let us know. The power of chain prayer is unbelievable! I know this from personal experience. Beautiful bass!

how big do they get?

Darth,  A big one is 12" if it's pure.  There are a lot of hybrids where we were fishing but the one shown, maybe, is the purest.  There are several long videos by Shoal Bandit that have all the black bass species listed.
