Pinnicle Brake Dial Slipping

Featured Replies

I have several pinnicle baitcasting reels with the internal brake dial feature. I love these reels except for one thing...I have a problem with the brake dial holding it's set position. I can set it on say #4 and after a number of casts the reel will begin to backlash. When I open the side plate to inspect the brake dial position, it has slipped all the way to the #1 (loosest) position.

Is there a way to tighten or adjust the dial so it won't slip during use? I've even resorted to using a tiny piece of tape to hold the dial in place but after a while even this does'nt hold.

Like I say I LOVE my Pinnicles....If only I could find a fix for this issue.

XpressMike:

Thanks for your recent post.  We were sorry to learn of the problem you experienced.  There were a few isolated reports of the slipping you described, which prompted us to look into this issue.  We have since corrected the problem.  If you are handy with reels, we can send you the necessary replacement parts and you can make the repair yourself, or if you wish, you can send your reel in to our customer service department for warranty repair at no charge.  In either case, please contact our parts and service manager, Greg Imlay, at customerservice@pinnaclefishing.com.  Greg will be happy to assist you with this.

We look forward to being of service.

Good Fishing!

Greg at Pinnacle gave me a call after I sent him an email. He is sending out the replacement parts to correct the issue. The fix seems to be as simple as a stronger C ring. I'll post an update after I get the parts installed on the reels.

To this point I'm very impressed with the customer service from Pinnacle. ;)

I recieved the replacement c-rings from Pinnacle along with a bonus spare spool. Greg included some easy to follow instructions on how to replace the c-rings and I had the reels repaired in no time at all. I have'nt had the chance to use the reels yet but I plan to try them out this coming weekend.

Thanks Pinnacle & Greg for your attention to customer service. ;)

I'm happy to report that the repaired reels performed flawlessly. No more slipping of the brake dial.

Thanks again! ;D

Xpress Mike:

Thanks for the update.  We're glad we could be of service, and that your reel is performing well.  Now, get out there and catch some big ones!

Best,
