Spinning rod for jerk bait suggestions

Featured Replies

I’m looking for a mid to higher end suggestions for a spinning rod that’ll likely be a dedicated jerk rod. I mostly throw vision 110 jr’s but do throw the full sized ones occasionally

I am open to all brands

Thank

I’d really like to put my hands on one of these rods. I read great reviews on them and believe they were designed to use the 110 series jerks.

I jerkait fished for smallies and used a few different rods. primarily using the 110's and Juniors...I was never very confident in the technic. Lost fish, or didnt get strikes at all.

I tried out the Megabass and it started making sense. Numbers went up in both landed fish and strikes.

Either it was I was using the wrong equipment, lack of knowledge and skills or the Megabass rod was perfect for this application.

I usually err on the side of me, but I cant help but think the rod made a lot of difference. They make nice stuff.

Ronin is a sweat stick but super short for casting. I owned gen one and 2 and the current model is the best. Other great options

Megabass Valkyrie 6-11 M F (high end)

St. Croix Medium F 7'-0"

G. Loomis 842S - for smaller jerkbaits

Shimano Teramar XX 7' MF

Falcon Clearwater MH mod-fast

favorite one but discontinued - Shimano Crucial 6'-10" M Fast

favorite for casting far - Daiwa Steez 7'-6" ML/M

Is the Loomis a nrx?

I have an older falcon low rider from the late 90’s. It’s a casting rod that I caught tons of smallmouth slinging rattling rogues and the Diawa TD minnow. It’s a 6’ and does great but I’m just not too good with a bait caster
