I fish a lot of lakes that have a large amount of standing timber I know to look at the contour lines and not the timber per say unless it shows signs of deepwater etc. I just can't seem to be able to see/find the brush that is mixed in. it all sorta blends together to me is there any tips for this issue?

If you have a sonar/gps unit you can move around and watch your 2d or down scan to locate them then mark them with a waypoint.  Otherwise a jig fished on the bottom can find them for you.

Are you sure there is brush down there?  A lake I frequent has lots and lots of standing timber, but no brush.
