Light or BFS casting rod Build advice

Featured Replies

I just started building rod and my first build was a cheaper BFS set up.
I am going to build another BFS/ Light action casting rod this fall or winter.  If will really be a heavy BFS rod.  I need help choosing a rob black for it.  I am looking at rodgeeks Carbon 5 light and Cashion Light or a NFC X-ray blank.  Am I missing a better brand?  I like fast action rods too.

Thanks

Brett

We have no idea what your first rod is, no idea what presentation or lures you want to throw, etc. Most bass blanks now days are fast action.

I'm not sure what a "heavy BFS rod" means, either.  To get good advice, I think you need to get specific about power and action, using CCS as a tool.  You can  easily set it up and then you can know what your current rod is and have a better idea of how much "heavier" you want to go, and CCS data can be utilized to help.  If you need help on setting up CCS testing, send me a message which includes your email address.

Simply asking about blank brands without getting specific doesn't help.  For example, there are hundreds of XRay blanks.

And to expand on Micks point, there models within brands that stand out and others not so much. You’re doing yourself a disservice by limiting yourself to one brand.
