My buddy said my present worm rod is too short, 6'2" so I tried a longer one earlier this year that I didn't like as much as the older one so I built another.  It's for finesse fishing, spinning, 6 or 8 lb line, 1/16th or 1/8th oz sinker with a 4 3/4" finesse worm.  It's a Rainshadow Immortal walleye blank, extra fast 6'8" for 6-14 lb line IMMWS68MXF-TC.  Too cold today for me to try it so tomorrow or Sunday will be the day.

I don't know, I still use my 5 ft. 4 in. G Loomis SJ6400 IMX, for the shallow and close stuff, a real feather wand.

I know what you mean.  I carry a 5'6" Immortal rod for kayak fishing throwing under overhanging banks.

I still always carry a 5’6” rod in the locker - current one is a BPS “Power Plus” medium. Bust it out for pinpoint work, and when everything else is failing. 
 

I will go to my grave convinced that a shorter rod lends itself to a gentler finesse presentation than a longer one.

Saying that you need any specific length or type of rod to catch your prey negates all the time that same prey was caught before, its sales speak, it becomes what you can sell after all the media hype. That SJ 6400 IMX was the first dropshot designed rod, but then it was a vertical, shallow, cleaner water presentation back then.

The new rod works good.  I caught several fish this week using it.  Largest was a 2.56 lb Alabama Bass.
