reel cleaning/maintenance question on brakes

I am curious about the centrifugal brake systems needs. Should I clean completely the drum and the weight/pin, removing all traces of oil and dirt?

Or is there suppose to be oil on these parts?  I normally clean them and run them dry. What does Shimano recommend? All my reels are Shimano. Thanks for your input.
