i want to buy a gloomis imx rod for throwin rat l traps from 1/2 to 3/4 and simular cranks what model do u guys recommend oh yea i want a 7 ft baitcasting rod

Any Gloomis rod with the digit "2" at the end of the model will serve you as a crankbait rod. But why spend 225-250 bux in an IMX rod when you can get a GLoomis Crankbait rod for less than 200 ?

correct me if im wront but the crankbait series has fiberglass in it correct , mr im not a fan of a fiberglass pole

Loomis crankbait rods are 100% graphite, and probably more sensitive than several rod companies higher end models.  Get the CBR845...it will be perfect for 1/2-3/4oz traps, and can double as a spinnerbait rod or even work for lighter plastics.

I suspect that you are building a rod collection.  This is a good thing, but unless you are well stocked already you should give careful thought before going into technique specific rods.

If you are certain that the rod will be used only for crankbaits or light weight treble hooked lures, then I say fine,

But if you need a little more versatilty at this point, the MBR IMX is hard to beat

Based on your description of desire the MBR842C would be ideal.  the problem is that it only comes in GlX and may be more than you want to spend.

The MBR 782C comes in IMX.  It is a 6'6" rod that will do wonders with crankbaits, topwaters, and spinnerbaits, yet the fast action will bet the power elements into play sooner for light worming.

Again for exclusive crankbaiting, the crankbait series is great, but if you may be calling on this rod for broader duties, then the MBR is the way to go.

Look at the CBR783, it is a great rod for small to medium size cranbaits and doubles nicely for topwaters.  I used the MBR782 IMX, but quickly changed to the slower action (CBR783) crankbait rod due to losing too many fish with the fast action. I cannot claim extensive experience, but I sure seemed to lose a lot of fish which I attributed to a 'too fast and responsive' of an action. I think this is a good compromise rod (6'-6"), due to my preference for a shorter rod when using topwaters.
