Anyone using this rod for light bottom contact? Free rigs and such?

The A version, yes.  Somewhat new to free rigging, but this year went really well with it.  I feel comfortable throwing almost anything in the weight range with it.  I do feel 1/4oz is an accurate rating on the bottom end but can push the upper end a bit if needed.  It has some power when you put the screws to it.

I do. I use it for 1/6oz big trd, some 1/8oz shaky head, and 1/4oz jig (total weight is about 1/2oz). It works perfectly. 

I have also tried it with 3/8oz jig, total weight 3/4oz, and I feel that's its limit. So I'd say its 1/4-3/4 lure rating is pretty accurate.
