Garmin 95sv UHD 2 w/GT56UHD vs Garmin EchoMap 106sv Ultra w/GT56UHD

Featured Replies

Hoping to get some feedback from people on which unit to purchase. I can get the Ultra for $1799 (CAD) down from $2900.

I can also get the UHD2 for $1150 if I wait for it to go on sale again as it's sitting at $1750 right now and I refuse to pay full price for things.

I'm a kayak guy, I was on bass pro the other day to compare screen sizes and really felt like the extra 1" of the 106 screen was a HUGE bonus.

The extra size is nice (that's what she said) and screen/image clarity are of high Importance to me.  The Ultra usually comes with the GT 54 transducer and the UHD2 comes with the GT 56 transducer and from some YouTube videos I have seen the 56 is alot better. Which is what was holding me back from the Ultra to begin with, but figured the higher screen resolution could offset the lower quality transducer but now that I've found the Ultra with the GT56 I'm really thinking about busting out the Visa.

Any input would be appreciated, thank you.

One thing to think about is power

The 95 draws 1.72amps average, the 106 draws 2.8amps average...which means for the same time on the water, your battery will need to have 50% more capacity to run the 106

10 hours, Lithium battery - 95sv needs an 18ah battery, 106sv needs a 30ah battery...and that's JUST for the sonar...any other equipment will require more capacity.
