IR Finesse Jig

Featured Replies

Already put up a post in reports about my

weekend of fishing the early spawners down here in South Louisiana. I have always gone with a Texas rig with a pegged tungsten weight when sight fishing beds, but I wasn’t getting the fish’s attention and when I found a bait they would really not like they were grabbing the tail to move it. I switched over to a pitching jig and got their attention but they wouldn’t bite so I switched to a black and blue 5/16oz IR Finesse Jig with a solid black chunk trailer and the first time a fish picked it up I had them hooked. I’ve never really thrown “finesse” jigs, but that was definitely the deal today. It stands up great and stays upright very well like a football jig, but it comes through grass super easily bc it has a slim profile. I think a 3/8oz would’ve worked a little better bc I felt like I moved the bait more than I wanted to a few times, but other than that I found a new tool for fishing beds. Need to get some more and try some different  colors. Any suggestions for sight fishing jig colors???

I find solid white the easiest to see in the water.  They’re not eating so it shouldn’t affect their behavior.
