Bought this a couple years ago and just now getting the time to throw it. I put it on a Loomis GLX 892.. 

 

Talk about a sweet rig! I like it a bunch, but and it’s not a problem yet,but will be if the history of Shimano s Aluminum gear sets are accurate. My question is has anyone here ever replaced the gear and pinion with a gear set from a 23 Metainium? I’m not sure they would even work but I’m researching it now. It’s an awesome lil pitching/casting rod for 3” to 4” senkos wacky rigged and small minnow type rigs. I have the 23 metanium and comparing the gear box , I’m guessing no. What y’all think?

    I’m going to do just that but if the gears go rough and gruff I’m going to try and replace them with brass.. maybe lol
