Soft Plastic Swim Bait Sizing for Prespawn ?

Featured Replies

For winter I tend to use the smallest 2.8” Keitech Fat Swing Impact , as the water begins to inch upwards a few degrees I’ll go up to the 3.3” size and when pre-spawn hits I’ll continue up to the 3.8” size . I don’t anticipate the forage to be much larger during prespawn but this year I may bump up to the 4.3” size to target the bigger bass as the prespwan gets well underway in early Spring . What is your strategy in selecting soft plastic swim bait sizes from Winter into the prespawn and finally into Spring and into post spawn ?

Same strategy, except I stop at 3.3 for spots.

I am not going larger than 2.8 now because it is all they will hit.

For the smallmouths 3 1/4 and the 6" Zal Daingerous swimbait, largemouths anywhere from 3 3/4 to the 7" Zal Daingerous swimbait or a 6oz line thru trout. This works from pre spawn to fall.

There's big and small bait all year I don't think I makes much difference.

I rotate a 2.8 easy shiner or fat impact, to a 4" of either of those, and a 6" bait like a magdraft.   they usually tell me what they want.
