I love throwing finesse jigs or really light 1/16 shakeyheads. I have a Saint Croix victory M/XF spinning rod that I love throwing them on. I do miss hook sets often though with that with anything but the thinnest hooks. 

 

Since then I've used a 7' victory MH/F baitcaster, and it's okay but I feel like it's a bit stiff in the tip. I feel like I can just creep it along the bottom. So slow with my spinning rod. And I think I get a lot more bites. 

 

So I'm kind of thinking out of the box here and considering a couple things. 

 

1. MH expride spinning. 7'2"-1/4-3/4 oz. I've heard it said it feels like the medium fast baitcaster version.

 

Have any of you used this? 

 

2. 7'2" MH/MF victory baitcaster. It's called a cranking rod but for whatever reason I feel like it would be just like my other medium heavy fast with a little bit softer tip which might be perfect. 

 

I thought about a braillist but I think they'll be too heavy. I thought about a medium heavy victory spinning rod but it's 3/8-3/4 as opposed to 1/4-3/4. 

 

I think what I'm looking for is something with a very soft tip that gets into the backbone quick. Kind of like a baby version of the victory full contact finesse. I love that rod for full size jigs. I think it's kind of perfect. I just want one for my finesse jigs and in spinning if possible.

 

You guys have any thoughts on this?

Two options in the falcon lineup to consider. 6’10” finesse jig/topwater. Great rod designed exactly for what you’re describing.  Also, the 7’2” swim jig rod. Really light tip but quick into the backbone. Ignore the lure ratings, it’s a 1/4-3/4 rod.  I have the expert finesse jig and the Cara swim jig.

Sorry bad sentence. I think with a softer tip l can just barely bump and creep it across the bottom. My stiffer rod gives less subtle movements if that makes sense. 

 

I'm pretty new to jigs still. I read some like stiff extra fast rods and others like more medium action. I'm still figuring it out. But l think l like that really light tip.

It does.  I think you are using the softer tip to compensate for not so subtle hand movements.  The softer tip is absorbing some of your hand motion.  Practice doesn't make perfect, but it does get us closer.
