Abu Garcia revo S

Featured Replies

I got a revo s casting combo probably about 7 years ago. I was looking for it online to see what it was worth, and to see if I could get a replacement rod because its been pretty heavily abused, but couldn’t find anything about it. Does anyone know what they cost? Or are they discontinued? And what was it worth when I bought it?

Seven-year-old tackle has definitely been discontinued.

We've spoiled the tackle makers, buying into their planned obsolescence and N+1 marketing.

When Daiwa wouldn't support parts for my 7-y-o Millionaire in 1984, I didn't buy another Daiwa until 2019, and then because their product defined my niche.

Lew's was the last maker supporting decade-old reels, but even they don't do that anymore.

Your best bet is to either take it to a rod builder and have them put some new guides or something on it to fresh it up, or search and try to find one used but in better condition. But that itself can be quite expensive either way and theres no guarantee the rod will last forever.

Abu does have a newer Revo X casting combo but its way overpriced, $200 for a combo with a subpar reel.... Wow. But you might be able to find one of the newer rods for sale by themselves.

Your best option would be keep fishing it till it breaks, it might take awhile. And when it does just try to find a rod that matches its material, power, action, and weight ratings.

If I was to buy the combo new now how much would it be worth?

And is it higher quality than the x or about the same?
