Falcon Cara Amistad

Featured Replies

Who owns this rod and what do you use it for? Looking to pick up a pitching stick for light/moderate cover (docks, trees, scattered grass, bushes). Usually fish a 3/8 oz plus plastic, but may go as heavy as 1/2 oz.

Is this going to be too much rod? Is there a better option in the Cara lineup?

I use it as a Jig rod mostly. Also a C- rig rod and ploppers also the Magdraft.

I'm sure it would work but, for me personally I like to pitch spoons in dock stalls around walkways ect.

For that I'd rather have the Head Turner. Just a shorter, easier rod to handle in tight spaces and would still have plenty of power for those weights.

The Cara amistad would be a good choice for that and that’s largely what I use it for. I used to have the expert and 3/8 plus a 4” beaver was about the lower limit.  The Cara fishes that weight well. If you are 50/50 between those two weights then go amistad. If you’re more 3/8 then the heavy cover jig is a good choice as is the head turner.
