Hi All,

Taking a trip soon to northern WI to do some fishing.

 

Was curious if my fellow anglers believe the below rod/reel would be a solid option for a ned rig dedicated rod? 

 

I would be using 1/16 and 1/10th oz mushroom style ned jigs - with most likely 10-14 # lb braid to a 6', 6-8 # leader of Fluro. 

 

These seem most cost effective, have good reviews, and i personally like Lews products. 

 

I wanted something that wouldn't break the bank, but would still offer me a very solid set up to ned rig.

Would you consider the above an adequate rod/reel combo for ned rigging purposes?

I'd get the 7'6" medium light offering and use 10# braid.

What benefits do you think one would get opting to go with the 7'6" over the 7'? Thoughts on the reel? 

I just prefer longer rods. 

Might get longer distance can reach over around brush on shore. Longer rod could have a bit more flex in the tip section to keep runs by fish at bay.

Longer rod though may get in the way if around trees and accuaracy hindered some would say.

Reel wise 200 if Lews is sized like a daiwa, haven't used a Lews spinner but description of it seems nice.

The KVD series is nice whether you go casting or spinning,

I dont understand the ML rod trend so ill recommend this, get a medium rod thats between 7-7'3". You can go longer but 7'2"-7'3" are about the best there is for distance, without having to worry about hitting the rod into the ceiling or smacking it into trees.

 

Pair that will a 2000 sized reel, and when you get back you will still have a nice combo. But you will be able to use it for any type of bass fishing technique that doesnt require a MH casting rod.

I guess I'm also slightly confused on the "200" sized reel. Is that's lews way of advertising a 2000 size reel? Or is it completely different

As my main set up. Medium 7'+. Reel size 200. I am however lost on the "200" reel size description. Ignorant question but is this the same as a 2000 reel and just lews way of labeling?
