  1. @RFSims Appreciate your time sir. That is very reassuring. I'm thinking ill just do it, and figure it out if i need to!
  2. Hi All, I recently purchased a Tatula XT Casting Rod 7' MH with a fast action. I'm currently researching/trying to figure out which Reel i want to pair with it. Looking to purchase the reel quite soon. I've really only looked at the Tatula SV TW as i wanted to pair the Tatula rod, with a Tatula Reel (Doesn't necessarily have to be this way). I get nervous looking at a lot of feedback about the Tatula SV TW. Seems a lot of anglers are having to take it apart, to oil and grease bearings immediately upon purchase. Whether on Bass Resource, Reddit, or Daiwa website directly - the issue seems to happen often when anglers are purchasing this reel. I am not familiar with adding the oil/grease though i understand from videos it isn't the most complicated thing - and i can definetely do the research/figure it out. Am i over thinking it, and i shouldn't avoid purchasing just based on the potential maintenance i have to do? Open to other reels as well that may match up to the performance/rep of the Tatula SV TW in its place 😮. FWIW, i'd throw top waters/moving baits - maybe also t-rigged senkos etc. Any any all responses are greatly appreciated! - Dan
  3. Hey All, Thinking of throwing Yozuri Hybird on two of my Medium fast action spinning rods. Seeing a bit of back and forth here about that line size of yozuri hybrid and most recommending 6# test as max on the spinning reels (200 sized reels). On my Medium Fast rod i have a 300 size lews reel. Rod rated for 6-15 lb line. Do you think the 300 size reel, should have 6#, 8 # or 10 # test yozuri hybrid for best matching line?
  4. Thank you Waymont! I have made sure to pay close attention to the hook set and have noticed it is more of a reel into a slight rod lift to actually set the hook. Do you have any suggestions on setting Drag for the ned rig? Do you recommend relatively loose drag (pulled out with minimal strength by hand) to ensure your reel into a light hook set actually sets, and adjust drag accordingly for a bigger fish? Or do you start with a pretty tight drag to begin with, and loosen up if needed? Greatly appreciate all of your feedback!
  5. Thanks much for the insight! I guess I'm also slightly confused on the "200" sized reel. Is that's lews way of advertising a 2000 size reel? Or is it completely different Thank you very much for the response medium mouth! I currently have https://www.basspro.com/shop/en/mach-2-spinning-combo?hvarAID=shopping_googleproductextensions&ds_e=GOOGLE&ds_c=BPS|Shopping|PMax|Fishing|General|NAud|NVol|NMT&gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAjwupGyBhBBEiwA0UcqaByUbzRb2JzZBN20VXLx9aEDrJQMi3EwKRJphH8Bta3qc1gV2d-IphoCJlgQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds As my main set up. Medium 7'+. Reel size 200. I am however lost on the "200" reel size description. Ignorant question but is this the same as a 2000 reel and just lews way of labeling?
  6. Greatly apprecaite your response Quake! What benefits do you think one would get opting to go with the 7'6" over the 7'? Thoughts on the reel?
  7. Hi All, Taking a trip soon to northern WI to do some fishing. Was curious if my fellow anglers believe the below rod/reel would be a solid option for a ned rig dedicated rod? I would be using 1/16 and 1/10th oz mushroom style ned jigs - with most likely 10-14 # lb braid to a 6', 6-8 # leader of Fluro. These seem most cost effective, have good reviews, and i personally like Lews products. I wanted something that wouldn't break the bank, but would still offer me a very solid set up to ned rig. Lew's KVD Spinning Reel | Bass Pro Shops Lew's KVD Spinning Rod | Cabela's (cabelas.com) Would you consider the above an adequate rod/reel combo for ned rigging purposes? Please let me know your thoughts! Thank you! - DanChicagoFishing
  8. Thank you Daubs! Any insight on how the Fluro Leader helps with NOT nicking yourself with the braided line? Or is that not a thing (i should add i don't fish with a leader ever so that will also be new for me)
  9. Thank you very much! I am thinking of using my 7'-1" Medium Fast rod specifically for the Ned rig, i am new to ned rigs though so any insight is appreciated. I believe this should do though What do you usually use?
  10. Regardless of the site, or source i see Braid recommendations often for spinning reels. Even more so on the ned rig - and in this specific area of WI. Just want to have a rod set up with what has proven well in this area. With my others that i normally would throw. I also want to see what all the hype of braid on a spinning reel is about!
  11. Hi All, I will be taking a vacation out to Door County (Northern Wisconsin) over the 4th of July this year. I want to utilize a ned rig set up on one of my rods. I have done quite a bit of digging, and it seems a spinning rod 6.5-7.2' (M OR MF) 8 ish # braid, and an 8 ish # leader of Fluro is what a lot of fellow anglers recommend! (10ish feet leader) I have never used braid line before, as i've only utilized mono/fluro. Im concerned a bit with switching to braid for the ned rig set up as i've never used it, and understand there are potentially bad outcomes with being a first-time user of braid. Most Concerning to me and a few questions i have is: The line cuts that can be caused to hands, as well as potential damage to the reel/eyes on the rod. I feel im missing out on the benefits of braid on a spinning rod based on my above precautions. Am I completely over thinking this, and i should just put braid on my spinning rod with a fluro leader to throw a ned rig? Thank you all very much for any responses/thoughts you may have - Dan
