Casting or Spinning System For Dropshot

I have only been attempting the dropshot for a couple of years and although its not one of my favorite ways to fish, in gin clear water it works well. I have used both spinning and baitcasting set ups for the dropshot rig but, it seems, at least to me, that a spinning rod and dropshot go hand and hand. I have settled on a 7' med--- fast to extra fast rod and #6 or #8 test.
