Hey All! I am going to buy an Abu Garcia Revo. What my problem is, is what type should I get (stx, sx, or s)? I was going to get the stx, but it is pretty small. What do you think?

You need to go to where you are going to buy it from and put all three in your hands and see which one feels right.

From what you said the stx is too small so go out and see how the other 2 feel in your hands.

Not only go out and feel the reel but take the rod you intend on using the reel with, and feel the whole package....

I have tried them all, (bass pro reel on part of rod) but I was just wondering which you guys like. The STX is amazing, the only downer is that its small, but I guess that means i have more controll on it.

I own the STX's and the S models.....have both in front of me and have fished both already a few times. They are both the same size. Not sure about the SX but I dont see it being any different in size. There are some frame and cosmetic differences but overall size is the same. I recommend any of them.

I just took back the S model and got the SX.  The S doesn't have the external mag brake adjustment and I like that.  I think that plus another bearing is worth the extra $50 bones.  But I don't think the STX is worth another $50 bucks for the small differences.  Just my opinion...

I have the S model, love everything about it so far.As 5basslimit said, they all are the same size. The S model is very easy to adjust if you have to, the thumb screw on top opens the side plate , but I haven't needed to adjust the settings yet. :)Ivan

I would go with the SX.  I work at Bass Pro, and most of my break times are spent looking at the reels.  The SX is just so similar to the STX that I strongly suggest the SX and go spend the $50 you saved on a can of silver spraypaint and then it will look like the STX.  The SX rules this family of reels even though the S is really nice.  The magnetic break system is what sells me on the SX

The STX uses the "infini-spool" technology that totally disengages the spool from the rest of the drive train when cast.  This is a significant difference between the STX and SX.  This difference alone probably justifies the extra cost.  (Whether or not you like this feature is still up to you.)

All 3 models are the same size.  According to the specs, there are 3 differences (4 if you count color) between the SX and STX:

1  "Titanium nitride wormshaft"

2  "Infini Spool II" - spool is seperated from the drive train during casting

3  "Everslik" coated pinion shaft and pawl

The infini-spool is the feature that would most positively affect your ability to cast VERY light baits.  It's also the feature that makes it the most difficult to control spool "over-runs"

i totally agree with that!!!there are so many people who don't understand why.basically the more free spinning the spool is the more brake it will require.
