New Jerkbait Rod

Featured Replies

There’s so much information on here that I appreciate when you help me out on a question like this…

$100-$125 Cabela’s gift card. Need a jerkbait rod.

If your local Cabela's carry the SLX A 6'10" Medium, then I recommend you check it out, for $99.99 it's hard to beat IMO.

68MF SC mojo bass "jerkbait" rod has served me very well for years.  And is an absolute pleasure to fish with.

Thanks @Rockhopper

Most of my go to rods are in fact the mojo bass series, though not the trigon handle. I handled one today at Cabela’s and wasn’t a fan coming from what I am used to.

That said, I got to looking at the GCX loomis rods as well, and wondered if it would be a step-up from what I have with the MojoBass already, or merely a “lateral”.  In other words, is the loomis worth the extra Benjamin?

Personally I buy rods 80% off of how they feel to me, then I put that last 20% of thought into build quality. Personally warranties don't matter to me. I have several Loomis rods from different lines (I also salmon and steelhead fish in the PNW). I have 6 mojo bass rods, and only two Loomis rods dedicated to bass fishing, both of which are my spinning rods. I guess what I'm saying is I don't get hung up on brand. I buy rods that feel good and are fun to actually fish with all day. Yes, some of the mojo bass rods feel horrible to me, and I don't own those. Same can be said for Loomis.
