What rod power/tip used for multiple techinques?

Featured Replies

As I am not ready nor do I have enough money to have only one techinque specific rods.  I was wondering what rod power/tip doubles for multiple techniques?  I was always kind of confused on this and I have seen conflicting information.  I have at least one rod of every power starting at medium.  Thanks

The most common answer will probably be a 6'6"-7' MH Fast. The 7' gets my vote! 8-)

Yup I have a couple M/M and a couple MH/Fast that I figured I could put to more than one use.

I agree with  fourbizzle

I agree, 6 1/2' MH/F is popular, but it is not what I would recommend. Medium Power is much more fun to fish with.

All-around spinning tackle: 7' M/F with a firm tip.

All-around baitcasting rod: 6 1/2' M/F with a soft tip.

Spinning---6'6" to 7' M with a xtra fast or fast tip.

Baitcasting---6'6" to 7' MH with a xtra fast or fast tip.

I use spinning gear. My all-purpose rods are 6'6", medium power with a fast tip.
