Shimano Curado Casting Rod??

Featured Replies

Im thinking about ordering a Shimano Curado Casting Rod to replace a broken Falcon rod. American Legacy has them the one I’m looking at on sale for like $135 (down from $179).
Does anyone have any experience with this line that can provide some honest feedback? I went to the YouTubes for reviews, but it’s more sales pitches than honest reviews. I hear the blank is the same as the shimano zodias line.
I'm looking at the 6’8” Medium power Moderate fast action for jerkbaits, smaller cranks, and smaller top water.
Thanks in advance for any info!!

If the price is right, and they have a good return policy, order this rod and a few others. Internet research is all good and well...but nothing compares to having a fishing rod in your hands for the "feel."

I'm still fishing old 1990's Cabela's branded rods...they are still going strong. Have a few newer Scheel's rods, and a Fenwick HMG...they felt good in the store, so I brought them home.

Good luck!!

I bought the curado 7’2” ml and have fished my dads 6’10” mh.  I also own a zodias spinning and a bunch of falcon rods. Not exactly what you’re looking at but not far off. I think you’re right on the blanks being the same. Not sure what falcon you’re comparing with but I would put the expert and Cara lines as better rods than the curado and zodias.

Thanks for the reply! The Falcon I broke and am replacing was a the 6’6” medium power, moderate action “Treble Hooker”in the cheaper Bucoo line. I own several Lowriders and really like them. I was looking at the $130 Lowrider Jerkbait rod as a replacement, but they are sold out everywhere.

I've got the 6'10" and 7'2" MLs and love them for finesse stuff. Don't ever go out without one of those two

I own a lot of Falcons and have owned several zodiacs and expride. Shimanos action is very different and their tapers are pretty consistent across product lines. It’s going to be faster action than the Falcon.

Falcon rods are nearly all out of stock or were last time I looked.  Not sure what’s going on there….

If you are open to other brands there are a lot of good options in that $150 ish range. ALX and Ark both fish similar to Falcon. The Tatula line is solid.  St Croix makes a great 6’8 mxf jerkbait rod in all their lineup. Just food for thought

A buddy of mine also recommended the ALX rods. He really seems to like them. I was unfamiliar with the brand, so I’ve never even given them a thought. I may have to check them out.

There is a used lowrider in the model you broke on ebay right now or go to Walmart and save some money on one in the EVO line, with the money you saved could add the 6-8 one for a little heavier action in spinnerbait/buzzbait/square bills.

I have a few of the previous generation and they are nice rods. Light and sensitive. A good combo in my book. Most of my rods are Shimano/ G Loomis and Falcon. Try it, you just might like it.

Just a follow up on this thread. I ended up going with the  6’8” Medium power Moderate fast actioCurado rod. I was able to get out on the water and try it out today. I threw a rapala 08 skitter walk top water, rapala DT-6 crankbait, and a weightless zoom super fluke in the grass. I was happy with the performance. Even managed to land a few fish on the fluke. I think the rod will work well for my intended uses. Thanks for all the feedback!
