P-Line Evolution

Featured Replies

I saw this line at Dick's Sporting Goods, it is supposed to be a thinner copolymer line with 40% less stretch. I was wondering if anyone has tried this line and what your thoughts on it are. I might just have to get a spool and try it. Thanks for any input.

I'm interested to hear about this as well.  I stood in Dicks for what had to be 15 minutes staring at all the PLine and trying to figure out when I'd use which line.

Floro, floro coated, copoly, etc  My brain started to hurt :(

I have used 12lb test and it works very well so far.If I were to find something negative about it, the color is difficult to see, but it casts extremely well, handles great and is very strong line. Ivan

Thanks for the input. Chis I did the same thing, I stood there looking for the same amount of time. Castaway , you use the saame size I was going to buy, I plan on putting it on my inshore saltwater reels, therefore i need something strong. I may in up bitting the bullet and trying 30# braid.

Freakin love that stuff!

I haven't used the Evolution.I will be trying it probally.I use exclusively P-Line anymore.100%Flouro for anything with a single hook.Co-poly for anything that has trebles. That is just the way I do it.

Any recommendations for any of the PLines on spinning vs baitcasting?

Pline CX Premium 8# works great on spining rigs.

I've got 15# Evolution on a casting rig, stuff handles like 10# and is tuff as nails.

Can someone tell me what is the advantage of a copolymer?  Exactly what is that stuff?  (Do you find it on the space shuttle  ;D)  Compare it to mono.  Im always interested in something new, but im a hard sell.  I love my berkely big game mono.  What are the qualities of this evolution that my mono doesnt have?  thanks

I may be wrong, but I think a co-polymer line is a little srtonger and more abrasion resistant than regular mono. Alot of saltwater guys use it for trolling.

I just spooled my heavy swimbait reel with th 25 lbs, it handle very nice and cast well, let see how tough is it.

Stronger, more abrasion resistant, and it sinks faster. I think it's time for me to run a line test all for me. Evolution vs flouroclear vs gamma vs yozuri ultra soft vs suffix. May the best line win.

Gar-balls,

There are a handful of differences and I for one am a fan of the copolymer in MOST situations. The main difference here is that they have something very similar to flourocarbon coating. What that translates to is a line that remains very thin but is literally harder (more resistant to abrasion) limp so that it lays better on the spool, thin because the coating gives it its strength instead of its overall size, and of course its going to be less visible as its coated and is a smaller diameter. For me the key is diameter, for example: When I swimbait I typically use 25 lb P-Line CXX mono but lately I've been playing with the 30 lb P-Line CX Premium. The 30 lb premium is obviously stronger but it is also a thinner diameter than the 25 lb. For me that is the best of both worlds unless I'm going to be in really heavy cover. In the thick stuff I'll go with the CXX because its thicker and as such the line has to get cut deeper before it breaks.

Hope this gives some clarification.

Matt

Thanks Matt, you talked me into it.  Im gonna get some and give it a try.  There is a local lake that gets pretty clear at times and is filled with structure.  The strength plus low visiblity sounds good.

Well, it's a Pline product, so you know it will be quality  :( 8-).  It will take quite a bit to make me change from my CXX though...

I too have been experimenting with different lines and find the p-lines to be excellent.

righ now I have my lone spinning reel spooled up with 10 lb evolution.  It was a little slinky in the beginning but I don't find this unusual in any non braided line.

I always troll new line for a spinning reel behind the boat, then tie on 1/2 raltltraps and fisnh them for an  hour or so.  Long casts and fast straight retrieves.  The line is ususally at it best now, and the evolution is better than most.

good stuff.

P Line Evolution and P Line Halo are BadASS!  These are some of the best mono's I have ever used.
