I'm looking to spend no more than $150 on a spinnerbait rod. I'm a little confused as to what the desired setup is. I've heard you want something close to a crankbait rod (maybe even fiberglass) to prevent from jerking the lure out of the fish's mouth. I've also heard graphite with a fast tip. Seems to be a lot of differing opinions out there. I usually throw 3/8 or 1/2 spinnerbaits.

Here are the ones I'm considering but I'm open to any suggestions....

6'6" Team Daiwa S Crankbait/Spinnerbait rod.

6'6" St. Croix Premier Medium Action 1/4-3/4 oz

6'8" Team All Star IM 10

6'6" Falcon Lowrider LFC-4-166 or LFC 6 166

Browning Citori 6'6" Medium or 6'10" medium heavy.

BPS Extreme Woo Davies Spinnerbait Rod 6'6" medium or Medium heavy

I use a an All-Star SBR2 Spinnerbait Special.It is a 6'8" med heavy fast tip.It does the job.

I would go with the Croix. With a $150.00 budget you could step up to the Avid. I like the Premier rods but the Avids are a much better class of rod that you won't out grow to fast.

I tend to use spinnerbaits in close in situations in heavier cover.  I also tend to roll cast them so a long rod is a hinderance in that aspect. I've always used 6" rods in MHVY action.  If you're talking about the ability to toss 1/4 to 3/8 oz baits longer distances than I'd opt for a 6 1/2 footer in a medium action with a faster tip.  

Depends on the fishing situation:

1. Open water, grass beds, deep slow rolling. I use a 6'6" or 7" Med or MH, fast action rod. The extra length and backbone help set the hook on a long cast or out of the grass.

2. Fishing tight to cover, pitching to creek bank cover, upriver, roll casting under trees, willows, etc: I use a 6' Castatway Spinnerbait special.

I would agree with the prior post and for $150, step up to the St Croix Avid.

My spinnerbait rod is also what I consider my "all-around" baitcasting rod. It's a St. Croix Avid AC66MF.
