Expectations too high or a common trend?

Featured Replies

I guess I'm wondering what colors you are using as well as the water clarity.

Might have something to do with your struggle.

There has to be a reason you are striking out that much.

Other than that, I don't think I've ever been skunked with a ned rig and a wacky worm.

I look forward to your future success.

I’m going to start my answer with a couple of questions. Do you you remember the baits you used as a teen? And, were you successful back then?   Here’s why I ask, several years back, (good n

Darren,

Thank you for sharing this post. I was contemplating starting a thread very similar to this within the las week and fall into this today. I share your frustration and to be honest you're probably catching more fish per year than I am. We probably go on 40 trips a season. I normally fish 3-6 hours at a time. I probably catch 10-25 fish a year. It has been that way for 10 years straight now. I have watched more youtube than anyone ever should. I've bought more tackle and tried way more lures than I can imagine. I really am lost as to what to do next. Good luck. If you figure something out let us know.

Glad to hear you are making progress. The Bass Forecast app does a pretty good job of dialing in location and bait selection, generally giving you three types of spots to fish and five baits.

But for the FFS wins, when you look at what the app is saying and the top 10 in a tourney, there's a lot of overlap.

Oh it'll also tell you the speed to fish.

It's not magic, but it's usually right, and it doesn't cost much to see if it works for you.

Alternatively, the 'get a guide for a day' advice given above is very very good. Tell them you want to learn how to fish the lake more than you care about catching a bunch of fish. I did three days of this for FFS (technique vs lake, but the point is the same) and I think it put me a year of water time ahead of my starting place.
