In need of a 7 foot medium moderate action spinning rod

Featured Replies

Hello everyone, title says it all. Not sure what to go with. The rod would specifically used for larger hover rig baits generally in the 1/8 to 3/8 range.

Thanks in advance.

Not sure of your budget but if you can find one, the Megabass P5 Windbuster is sort of a do all rod with a more moderate action. I have used it for just about everything from jerbaits to a free rig and of course things like a 4in paddle tail swimbait with a 1/8oz head. With that said, it was designed to be a hard bait rod but it's pretty sensitive and has plenty of power.  You can usually find on a JDM site for around $300-$325 plus shipping but no warranty. US cost is around $475 with a warranty.

St. Croix has multiple options across different price points.

Do you have any more details on why you want a moderate rod for this? Generally speaking they have rods with stinger tips for this type of thing and most of them are fast or extra fast so just wondering why you are considering a moderate action rod.

Having said that if it were me I'd probably go with one of the new Adrenas or an Expride for a strolling rod but it's hard to say in this case. Is there a specific lure or lures that you are looking to throw?
